We at JCS Immigration are long-time and proud supporters of LGBT rights and marriage equality. We are very excited that same-sex marriage immigration rights can be afforded to all people in the United States, regardless of which state they live in as long as the gay marriage took place in a valid marriage equality state or country.
We have helped hundreds of clients obtain a work permit and green card through marriage to a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident. We are very excited and proud to now help legally married same-sex couples obtain the same benefits that were denied to us for a long time. This was a very lengthy process and struggle for equal gay marriage rights, and it is very amazing to finally be recognized as equals in immigration law by the United States Federal Government.
After the United States Supreme Court's ruling that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was unconstitutionally denying legally married gay couples Federal Benefits, including the ability to sponsor an individual's spouse for a marriage-based green card. Since June 26, 2013 all Federal Agencies have been implementing swiftly and smoothly the new regulations including the Department of Homeland Security in respect to approving gay married couples' immigration petitions.
